Premium Valve Cover Gaskets. The Mr. Gasket Valve Cover Gaskets, Small Block, Ultra-Seal, 49-72 provide an effective seal to prevent oil leaks on Chevrolet Small Block Gen I engines. These gaskets are ideal for original equipment replacement and high-performance applications such as street driving, drag racing, and oval track use. Their ability to adapt to minor flange imperfections ensures a reliable sealing surface under demanding conditions.
Construction and Appearance. Made from a high-density cork and rubber blend, these gaskets feature material that swells when exposed to hot oil, creating a firmer seal. The gasket material has a brown finish and a thickness of 0.187 inches, designed to accommodate minor irregularities on the valve cover flange. This two-piece design matches a perimeter bolt pattern with four mounting holes.
Installation. Installation is straightforward, with no drilling or modifications required. These gaskets are designed as direct replacements, allowing for a clean and secure fit on compatible engines.
