Flywheel & Flexplate Tip

When replacing a flywheel or flexplate, it’s crucial to research and select the correct part for your application. An improperly balanced rotating assembly can cause significant damage to your engine.

What You’ll Need:

  • Replacement flywheel or flexplate
  • New ring gear
  • Flywheel/flexplate bolts (optional)
  • Loctite (for securing bolts)

Helpful Tips:

  1. Match the Replacement:

    • Save your old flywheel or flexplate to match it against the new one. This ensures proper fitment and compatibility.
  2. Know the Difference:

    • Flywheels: Feature a machined surface for clutch engagement.
    • Flexplates: Lack a machined surface and directly bolt to the torque converter, transferring power to the transmission.
