UMI's bolt-in rear coilover kit offers complete ride height, spring rate, and damping adjustability for your 1982-2002 Camaro and Firebird. The double shear upper mount is a direct bolt-in and accommodates a true 2-1/2” racing coilover. The FEA-designed lower bracket utilizes the standard shock mounting hole along with an additional reinforcement hole for installation. Drilling one 3/8” hole on each side is required, but no welding is necessary. The Viking shock is 19-way adjustable in both compression and rebound, ensuring the ideal setting for various applications. The coilover springs come in different rates: 110lb for drag racing, 150lb for street use, and 175lb or 200lb for auto-x/road racing. This product has been tested with UMI’s 1-1/2” diameter trailing arms, 22mm sway bar, and 32mm drag anti-roll bar. Compatibility with other brand sway bars and larger diameter control arms is not guaranteed. For further fitment inquiries, please contact UMI. All components are 100% manufactured in Philipsburg, PA, USA. The UMI rear coilover kit is tailored for racing use and may not suit every application. Occasionally, trimming or component relocation might be necessary. This kit has been confirmed to work with the UMI 22mm rear sway bar, UMI drag bar, and factory rear end, and has also been validated for compatibility with Moser Engineering and Strange brand rear ends. A set of 3/16” thick shims is included, but various aftermarket rear ends may require adjustments. The spanner wrench tool is essential for adjusting vehicle height while the shock remains mounted, and it is needed to make height adjustments. The thrust bearing kit should be placed between the spring and the spring seat attached to the shock, facilitating easier adjustments as the spring seat rotates on a bearing. While the thrust bearing kit is recommended for smoother adjustments, it is not mandatory for installation. We do not advise adjusting height on the car without a thrust bearing kit.
