Hydraulic Brake Assist Unit. The Hydratech Braking Systems Hydraulic Brake Assist Unit enhances braking performance by providing power-assisted braking specifically for 1967-1970 Mustang and Mercury Cougar models equipped with a factory Midland vacuum booster and power brakes. It supplements manual brake pressure through a hydraulic system, improving stopping power and pedal feel to support safer driving.

Construction and Appearance. Crafted from CNC machined T6 billet aluminum, this unit offers high strength and lightweight properties. Precision machining ensures durability and accurate fitment. The finished surfaces provide corrosion resistance and a professional appearance, suitable for both show and performance vehicles.

Installation. The unit features a direct-fit firewall mounting plate design that requires no firewall modifications. It mounts to the firewall and connects to standard brake and power steering components. Installation requires careful attention to the specific vehicle configuration, including brake and master cylinder compatibility.

Application. This brake assist unit is engineered for 67-70 Mustang and Mercury Cougar models with factory Midland vacuum boosters and power brakes. It is designed to work with engines equipped with power steering pumps on the driver's side and is compatible with rack-and-pinion steering conversions. It supports vehicles with disc/drum or disc/disc brake systems but is not compatible with 4-wheel drum brake setups. Clearance restrictions due to the shock tower limit master cylinder options. This unit is not compatible with Boss 429 HEMI or late model overhead cam modular engines.
