Description
Modern Classic Audio. The Radio & Speaker Kit, Reproduction, 54-55E is designed to combine the authentic look and feel of a vintage 1954-55 Chevrolet truck radio with advanced audio features. It provides original-style analog controls along with hidden touchscreen functions for Bluetooth hands-free communication and audio streaming, enabling a classic truck to enjoy modern convenience without compromising its period-correct appearance.
Construction and Appearance. This radio features a chrome-plated diecast nose piece and comes with a primed dash bezel ready for paint to match the dash seamlessly. The knobs and backrings are crafted to mirror the original design, while the compact radio case is only 3 inches deep to accommodate modern vehicle accessories. It includes a dual voice coil 5x7 speaker built into a custom frame that fits the original dash opening.
Installation. Installation is straightforward with no dash modifications required for original 1954 1st Series and 1955 Chevrolet trucks. The supplied 12-wire harness with connectors simplifies wiring, and the compact depth helps provide clearance around components such as electric wiper motors and air conditioning. Note that in some cases, removal of the built-in speaker bracket might be necessary when electric wipers are installed.
