The Battery Cover, Tar Top, 56-57 is designed to provide a vintage tar top appearance to modern Group 24 flat top batteries, giving classic restorations a period-correct finishing touch. This cover fits over maintenance-free batteries while maintaining the original terminal spacing, enhancing authenticity without compromising function.
Construction and Appearance. Made from durable .090" temperature-resistant ABS plastic, the cover features a molded lip extending approximately half an inch over the battery top to replicate the original design. Its dimensions match those of original Group 24 batteries, allowing use with classic GM perimeter-style hold-down clamps for a seamless vintage look.
Installation. Installation is straightforward with minimal difficulty, requiring only minor trimming on certain late-model Delco Group 24 batteries. No drilling is necessary, and typical Exide and NAPA batteries fit without modification.
