Even when repaired and tested, original heater cores often spring new leaks due to age and weakness in the core and seams at the tanks. A really good way to ruin your carpet! We always recommend replacing your 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987 El Camino's heater core even before the first signs of trouble.
