This coupler is designed to snap if there is too much resistance on the seat track. It is designed to break instead of cracking the plastic transmission housing or burning up the motor. If you have hit the power seat switch and you hear the motor running but it isnt moving, there is a good chance the power seat coupler has snapped in your 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986 El Camino.
