Spring Weather Safety Maintenance Tips

Spring Weather Safety Maintenance Tips

No one knows your car better than you do. Ever little rattle, ping, squeak, you hear it and you diagnose it, and then get it fixed. Along with the sounds that indicate something might be wrong, you should be aware of the different odors and smells that could be telling you that you have a potentially dangerous problem.

Melting snow, rain, and fog are all part of expected spring weather patterns across the country, and that means it’s time to take a look at safe spring weather driving. Along with being aware of basic safe driving rules and avoiding distractions while driving, such as texting, making sure your car is properly maintained before you even hit the road is a good idea.

Replace your windshield wiper blades.
When the rain is coming down, when other cars are splashing dirt, water and grime on to your windshield when they go by, even momentary reduced visibility puts you and your passengers at risk. Worn out, torn and cracked blades can be replaced easily, affordably and quickly.

Check your fluids.
Along with your windshield fluid, you should check your brake, power steering, and transmission fluids, along with your coolant. TIP: Coolant, brake and power steering systems are closed systems. If these fluids are low you should check for a possible leak.

Repair any windshield chips and cracks.
Rocks and sand are often used on roads in the winter, leaving a gritty mess in the spring that could end up hitting your windshield. Take the time to fix any damage to your windshield or replace it if you have to.
