Socks on your wipers?
Yes! If you know an ice storm or snowstorm is coming, adjust your windshield wipers into the upright position, slip a pair of long socks over your wiper blades before weather hits and leave the wipers in the upright position. The next day simply remove the socks.
Hand sanitizer to clean and defrost key holes
Winter may be behind us, but this is a good one to keep in mind for cold trips to the mountains or for next winter. The alcohol in hand sanitizer will melt snow! We knew people were carrying around small bottles of this handy stuff BEFORE the pandemic. If your lock is frozen or jammed with snow or ice, squirt hand sanitizer into the lock to melt it.
Cool down with no A/C
This actually works! Roll down the window on the driver's side. Now get out of the car and open and close the passenger side door a few times. Hot air is forced out of the car! If you have AC, this tip can help you deal with the first few moments of stifling, painful heat from summertime sitting. After you start your car, switch your AC to your car's lowest setting, then do this maneuver. You'll feel the benefits of chilled air even faster.
Stop a windshield crack from growing
When you notice a chip in your windshield, use clear nail polish to stop it from growing until you can get to windshield repair shop or back home where you can repair your windshield.
Get rid of old bumper stickers in a snap.
Pour some WD-40 on a rag and apply it to the sticker. Let it sit for a few minutes and then pull the bumper sticker right off.
Stop windshield wipers from smearing
From time to time your windshield wipers may leave streaky marks on your windshield. Simply rub the wipers down with rubbing alcohol and let it dry. This will stop the streaking and help you extend the life of your windshield wipers.
