Steering racks offer much quicker ratios over the stock, barge-like 4 turn lock-to-lock steering. SteeroidsTM power rack and pinion conversions yield approximately 2.75 turns. Or choose a manual kit with a slower 3.5 turn ratio, better for drag racing. As an added benefit you get a lighter weight steering system - SteeroidsTM saves up to 25 lbs when compared to the stock steering system!
This is an entirely bolt on installation - absolutely no welding, cutting or drilling. Installs with basic hand tools in approximately 6-8 hours. On power kits your existing or readily available power steering pump and brackets can be used, or choose a manual system (higher effort steering, but save even more weight - no pump required - racks are internally lubricated).
SteeroidsTM rack and pinion conversions are complete kits - all necessary parts are included with the exception of the power steering pump. Parts included: Rack and pinion, Adapter bracket (adapts rack to chassis through A-arm bolts), Tie rod ends (self cleaning & lubricating, PTFE lined), Column, U-joint assembly, Power steering hoses (power kits only), All required fasteners (grade-8). The floor shift column features 8-position tilt, self-canceling turn signals, 4-way flashers, knobs, levers, and wiring harness adapter (69 plug directly into factory wiring). A steering wheel adapter (sold separately) is required for aftermarket steering wheels, or bolt the original wheel directly to the column with the included adapter kit.

Please Note: This kit has been engineered for Camaros and will only fit 1967-1968 Firebirds if you have a Chevy engine. It will not fit most Firebirds with Pontiac engines without extensive modification to kit and vehicle.

Tech Note: What is bump steer, and why is it important?
Bump steer is a term used to describe how suspension travel effects your steering alignment. As you drive over rough surfaces on the road, the suspension moves up and down. If your steering tie rods are not the correct length and at the correct angle, they will travel a different radius than the suspension, causing your alignment to toe in and toe out as the suspension travels up and down. If your car's alignment is changing while you are driving, this can cause the vehicle to become unsettled and darty, quick to wander and more apt to follow ruts. Steeroids® rack and pinion kits have been engineered to significantly reduce bump steer compared to stock. Our kits are adjustable to accommodate a variety of situations (including lowered vehicles), which actually makes your car not only steer better, but handle better!
IMPORTANT: Due to manufacturing processes, we cannot guarantee the color or finish of the re-manufactured rack and pinion unit. Parts and finishes on all components may vary from those pictured.
